Age UK - Older Adults - Mark Ellison

I became an Appointed Governor representing Older Adults in 2016.

Age UK Bromley and Greenwich has had appointed governor representation on Oxleas' Council of Governors since 2013.

Appointed Governor: Mark Ellison

About me

I'm the CEO of Age UK Bromley & Greenwich, an independent charity responsible for its own governance and income generation, working across the two boroughs with people aged 50 years and older, their families and carers.

Why I became a Governor

Dementia is currently enjoying a high public profile and more money is now being invested into supporting people to live well with dementia. However, less so with other mental health problems such as depression, which is often assumed as an inevitable part of ageing so it often goes undiagnosed and untreated.

On behalf of Age UK Bromley & Greenwich I want to ensure that older people are supported to enjoy good mental health in later life and their interests are fully reflected in the decisions made by Oxleas’s Board.
