Bromley: Frazer Rendell

I became a Public Governor representing our Public members who live in the Bromley borough in 2014.

Governor: Frazer Rendell 2015
Public Governor (Bromley): Frazer Rendell

About me

I have worked in hospitals in a number of countries around the world in the area of Facilities Management. This covers most of the non-clinical activities that happen in a hospital such as food, cleaning, portering, security and waste management. Not always glamorous, but essential to the smooth running of a hospital.

I now work as an independent consultant supporting hospitals in Facilities Management, as well as running a consultancy that helps businesses improve their employee engagement. I help to ensure that people are ‘switched on' at work and the business runs efficiently.

I was elected to the position of governor in 2014 and as well as sitting on the Council of Governors and attending local focus groups, I have also been involved in looking at programmes that have been recommended for the trust's adoption by the Department of Health.

Why I became a Governor

I really enjoy the work that I do in healthcare and wanted to have the opportunity to share my experience with Oxleas to help the trust to deliver the best service for the local community.

I really enjoy my role as there is a good connection with the other governors who are very happy to share their knowledge and experience with each other and with the trust.

I have been impressed that suggestions and recommendations from governors are acknowledged and utilised in a positive and appreciative manner. The trust invites and values this input as there is a genuine interest in making the service user experience the best it can be - and it shows.

My interests and hobbies

Having trained as a chef, food is a big part of my life away from work. My wife and I enjoy cooking and eating with our two children who have also taken a real interest in food. We like most food, but particularly Chinese cuisine, influenced by my time working in Asia (I also passed two Chinese language exams).

I like to keep fit and can be found most mornings waiting by the doors of the sports centre as it opens!
