Bromley: Margaret Cunningham

I became a Public Governor representing our Public members who live in the Bromley borough in 2019.

Governor: Margaret Cunningham

About me

After graduating I worked as a research analyst in the civil service, and later retrained as a social worker. After many years working in Lambeth, I became a co-ordinator on the Bromley Children Project in its early years.

A family move to Brussels for five years gave me the opportunity to volunteer with a mental health charity there. On our return to the UK we retired and I worked as a peer support volunteer for what is now Bromley, Lewisham and Greenwich Mind, becoming a service user Trustee nine years ago.

Why I became a Governor

Thirty years in Bromley, my career experience, and a curiosity about NHS Trusts led me to Oxleas. I hope that my long-term interest in mental health, and my experience and learning with a local charity has been a sound basis for me to make a positive impact as a governor.

My interests and hobbies

Film, family and garden design.
