How to get help: Bexley Mental Health Services

Emergency help

For current service users in Bexley:

As part of your care planning, your care coordinator (the main person who is currently helping you) should give you detailed information on how to get in touch with the mental health services when required.

If it is an emergency, and you are unable to contact your care-coordinator, you can call the 24- hour Mental Health Crisis Line on 0800 330 8590.

At evenings (after 5pm) and at weekends you can also get emergency help by calling the on-call social worker on 020 8303 7777.

You can also call the National Schizophrenia Fellowship helpline for Bexley. The English speaking helpline (0808 808 3333) is available Monday to Friday, 6pm - 12am. The Asian speaking helpline (0808 800 2673) is available on Mondays and Wednesdays, 6pm - 9pm and Tuesday to Friday 12pm - 3pm.

Adult mental health services

During normal working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm) you can telephone the Bexley Locality Mental Health Service on 020 36689 490.

If necessary, arrangements will be made for you to have an assessment.

Bexley Crisis Café

The Bexley Crisis Café is a safe and friendly place that you can come to if you are experiencing severe emotional or psychological distress. It is a place to meet others with similar problems and to access mental health support and advice from mental health and wellbeing professionals.

The Crisis Café is open outside of usual mental health service hours.

Child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS)

If you are a parent and you have concerns about your child’s mental health, please contact 0203 260 5200 Monday to Friday 9am-5pm.

Please contact the SLP crisis line on 020 3228 5980 Monday to Friday 5pm-10pm and Saturday to Sunday 9am to 10pm.

For all other times please contact the Oxleas Urgent Advice line on 0800 330 8590. Please also note that support is available via Kooth.

Older adults mental health services

If you are a current service user you can contact the Bexleyheath Centre:

for help and advice during office hours Monday to Friday: 9am – 17:00pm, Saturday: 17:00 – 20:00pm, and Sunday: 9am – 17:00pm.

Learning disability services

Bexley Learning Disability Team is a multi disciplinary team of professionals based at Adult Learning Disability Service, 3rd Floor, ‘B’ block, Queen Mary’s Hospital, Frognal Avenue, Sidcup DA14 6LT.

The team can be contacted Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm, on 020 8269 3300. If you need assistance out of office hours, please call 020 8303 7777 for the duty social work team.
