Quit smoking day success

The second annual National No Smoking Day event, held at Oxleas House in Greenwich earlier this year, was a resounding success bringing together staff and service users from across the trust.

The day promoted initiatives geared towards helping patients to quit smoking as well as advocating a healthy lifestyle. It was an opportunity for patients and staff alike to have their carbon monoxide levels monitored and for people to sign up to quit smoking.

Wellbeing nurses showcased activities which looked at patients’ physical health.  Patients were given advice on healthy eating. There were quizzes, raffles and light refreshments. A total of £81 was raised which will be donated to charity.

There are plans to build on the success with future events to bring awareness to members of the public of the link between mental health and smoking.
