Foot care

Long term conditions: Diabetes - foot care

When you have diabetes, you need to take care of your feet, attend regular foot checks and let your GP or healthcare professional know if there are any changes to your feet.

How diabetes can affect your feet

Diabetes may not affect your feet, but there are three main ways in which it could and these can exist together or separately:

  • Poor circulation
  • Impaired sensation
  • Changes in foot shape

For more information about these and how you can look after your feet, read our diabetes foot care information sheet.
