Nominations wanted for Oxleas Nurse of the Year

The trust's seventh Annual Nursing Conference promises to be an action packed day including drama, exciting speakers and an awards ceremony. It is taking place on Friday 14 May at Charlton Athletic Football Club.

The theme of the day is ‘Nursing Excellence’ and delegates will hear from a range of expert speakers as well as have the opportunity to take part in an interactive theatre session courtesy of drama group Playout.

As always, one of the most important parts of this event will be the presentation of the Nurse of the Year Awards. Pictured left is Jackie Waghorn, last year's winner.

This year, for the first time, nominations are being invited from service users, carers and staff. The awards will recognise individuals who have contributed to the categories of Nursing Excellence, Service User and Carer Experience, and Safety. Any qualified or unqualified nurses from any service in the trust may be nominated. The awards will be judged by a panel including governors and Oxleas’ staff.

There will be a prize of £500 for the overall winner plus the title ‘Oxleas’ Nurse of the Year 2010.’ The winners of the other two categories will each receive £250.

(The deadline for nominations was Friday 9 April 2010).
