MP visits Urgent Care Centre

Local MP Mr David Evennett, visited Oxleas’ Urgent Care Centre (UCC) at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup on Friday 24 September.

He was shown around the unit, which Oxleas operates from 8am until 10pm, seven days a week, by trust Chief Executive, Stephen Firn. According to Stephen, Mr Evennett has a keen interest in the services Oxleas provide in the community and regularly visits different trust facilities.

The UCC is part of Bexley Community Health Services, which transferred to Oxleas from Bexley Care Trust earlier this year. It provides care for patients who have minor fractures, wounds, illnesses and injuries.

Patients arriving at UCC reception are quickly seen by an assessment nurse who will direct them to an appropriate service. Urgent cases seen by the UCC could include worsening of a long term condition, fever, swelling, bumps and bruises, simple fractures or cuts needing stitches.
