Russell's Big Swim at Camber Sands

Oxleas Head of Communications Russell Cartwright completed the eighth of his twelve big swims on Bank Holiday Monday. He was joined at Camber Sands by around 20 Magpie Dance supporters, six of whom joined him for a swim.

Russell is swimming in the sea in Great Britain in a different place each month during 2010 to raise funds for Magpie. They are based in Bromley and are an inclusive dance company for people with learning disabilities. So far he has raised £2,175 and is well on the way to his target of £2,540 which will pay for two members of Magpie's Youth Group for a year.

Russell said "It was wonderful to have such great support for the eighth of my twelve swims, and especially good to be joined by members of Magpie's Youth Group who I am raising money for. The water was surprisingly cold for August but the seven of us who swam did really well, particularly Youth Group dancer Annie Parsons who didn't want to get out at the end!"
