Sunflowers brighten children’s gardens

The Mayor and Mayoress of Greenwich, Councillors Jim and Janet Gillman, paid a visit to Greenwich Children’s services in Eltham last week to celebrate their ‘Sunflower gardening day’.

They were helping children, their families and Greenwich Community Health Services (GCHS) staff to plant 200 sunflowers to brighten up the gardens at the site in Wensley Close. As well as improving the surroundings for the children, the day celebrated GCHS joining Oxleas earlier this year.

Children’ services based at Wensley Close include a residential short breaks service for children with physical disabilities, speech and language and music therapy, community paediatrics and audiology. The site is also shared with Demelza Children’s Hospice.
