Specialist services for Bexley children join Oxleas

A range of specialist children's services joined us yesterday in a move that we think will see more joined up care for children and their families. Many of the services are based at Queen Mary's Hospital but work across the community in the borough of Bexley.

The services that joined include:

Caroline Chummin, Manager of the Children's Community Nursing Team said: "We are very happy to be joining Oxleas. We felt a bit seperated from health visitors and school nurses before and are very happy to be able to work more closely with them and other colleagues now. We are also happy to work within a community-focused trust."

We spoke to 16 year old Charlotte (pictured below) from Erith who was having physiotherapy following an operation on her knee. She is very happy with the service: "They have been brilliant. I've been to other physios and Andy is the best."

Our Service Director for Children and Young People's Services Stephen Whitmore visited the services at Queen Mary's yesterday. He said: "I would like to welcome our new colleagues and look forward to working closely with them to support local children and young people across a whole range of health issues."
