What makes a good friend?

At our recent Annual Members' Meeting our Chief Executive, Steven Firn, joined members of our Lived Experience Network to sign the 'Time to Change Pledge' to challenge mental health stigma and discrimination.  

One of the ways we can all do this is by supporting friends with mental health problems. You don't have to be an expert to talk about mental health, often it's the little things you do for a friend that make a big difference. Here are some of Time to Change's suggestions for how you can support friends:

  • you can pledge to support a friend by adding your name to the Time to Change pledge wall
  • you can send a friend an e-card
  • you can watch short videos on how to be there for someone with a mental health problem
  • you can read Naomi's blog about talking to friends about her mental health problems.

Time to Change is an anti-stigma campaign run by mental health charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.
