Meadow View is the latest new development to open at Queen Mary's Hospital, Sidcup - part of a £30 million investment programme at the site by Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

The unit, for patients requiring intermediate care and neuro-rehabilitation, opened in December. The 34-bed unit is situated on the fourth floor of B block at QMH and replaces the former Reeves and Chislehurst wards.

Meadow View, named by a former patient, is brightly decorated with a gymnasium and day room and offers a homely environment for patients prior to their discharge into the community.

The development took six months to complete at a cost of £1.9m and is part of our major redevelopment programme at QMH.

As part of a three year transformation programme we are undertaking numerous developments across the site. Recently an official ground-breaking event took place on the site where a new state-of-the-art Cancer Centre will be built. When the Cancer Centre opens in 2016, Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust will deliver the services, that will allow patients to get local cancer treatments such as radiotherapy and chemotherapy, instead of having to travel further afield.

We have also started work on a new Kidney Treatment Centre, which will provide patients with a comprehensive range of kidney services including renal dialysis and medicine.

In addition there will be a new day-surgery unit, a children's centre and a new urgent care centre.

Service at Quenn Mary's Hospital are run by a number of renowned local healthcare organisations. Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust owns the hospital site and services are provided by:

• Oxleas NHS FT
• Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust
• King's College Hospital NHS FT
• Lewisham and Greenwich Healthcare NHS Trust
• Guy's and St Thomas' NHS FT
