We have won a £12.6m per year contract to provide healthcare services to the Greenwich prisons cluster of Belmarsh, Thameside and Isis.

From April 2015 we will begin providing a full range of healthcare at the site which is located between Woolwich and Plumstead.
Together with a number of partner organisations, we will lead the provision of services including: mental health services; dentistry; pharmacy; podiatry and a GP service.

We will also be providing a new healthcare IT system throughout the complex.

More than 2,600 prisoners are housed at Her Majesty's Prison/Youth Offenders Institute Belmarsh, HMP Thameside and HMP/YOI Isis.

Our Forensic and Prison Services Director, John Enser, said: "We are delighted to have won this contract. We look forward to providing healthcare to this cluster of prisons from next spring and for at least five years into the future. I would like to thank all our colleagues that worked so hard to secure this contract during the tendering process.

"We looked after mental health services in Belmarsh between 1991 and 2008, and during this time we were very proud that the service achieved NHS Beacon Site status. We look forward to achieving the same level of quality in the future."
