Staff at Oxleas today joined the Hello, my name is... campaign launched by Dr Kate Granger to remind NHS staff to introduce themselves to patients.
Dr Granger, who has terminal cancer, has made it her mission to get as many members of NHS staff as possible to pledge to introduce themselves to their patients. While being a patient herself, Dr Granger has become frustrated with the number of staff who have failed to introduce themselves to her.
Wilf Bardsley, our Director of Nursing, has welcomed the campaign. "We believe it is a fundamental part of good care," he said. "Whenever, we meet patients and family members, we should always introduce ourselves by name. It fits in with our values of seeing things from our patients' point of view."
