Speech and language therapists give the gift of food

Christmas cheer may seem a distant memory, but for families in Crayford and Thamesmead, it will still be going.

And that’s because of the kind donation from our Bexley Paediatric Speech and Language Therapists. Instead of joining in with a ‘Secret Santa’, they decided on a more generous approach.

They collected the money they would have spent on the presents, headed off to the supermarket and bought several trollies of food for local food banks.

Food for local food banks

The £337.50 raised bought three trollies of food and two of toiletries – vital supplies for families in need.

Pictured are Sophie Bishop and Imade Omokaro who organised the collection and shopping.

Sophie said: "We usually do Secret Santa as a team, but decided that this year we would give back to the community instead by collecting all the money that we would have put towards Secret Santa and using it to buy food for local food banks for families experiencing difficulties within Bexley.

"We worked with local churches which collect for food banks to help us distribute it to the people who need it."
