Celebrate Learning Disability Week with Oxleas

Learning Disability Week 2018

Oxleas’ Learning Disability directorate will be hosting a number of events to celebrate Learning Disability Week (18 to 24 June 2018).

As the theme this year is Mencap’s ‘Treat me well’ campaign, the events will be held in hospitals across Bexley, Bromley and Greenwich boroughs.

On Tuesday 19 June 2018 Bexley and Bromley Learning Disability Teams will have information tables in the hospital foyer at Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup from 9am to 1pm. At 2.30pm, our Adult Learning Disability Service will be officially opened.

The day will also focus on the ‘Treat me well’ campaign by Mencap which aims to transform how the NHS treats people with a learning disability in hospital. Experts by experience from the Can you understand it? team and Bexley Mencap will visit various services to find out if reasonable adjustments are being made for people with learning disabilities using these services.

On Thursday 21 June 2018 the work of Bromley College students from the Nido Volans Centre will be showcased from 1pm to 3pm. Bromley Learning Disability Nurses will also have an information table at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Farnborough from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

On Friday 22 June 2018 Greenwich’s health and social care team will have an information table at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich from 10am to 3pm.
