Oxleas appoints new Chief Executive

Following approval at the Council of Governors meeting yesterday (21 June), our new Chief Executive, Matthew Trainer, has now been officially appointed.

Matthew joins us from King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, where he has been managing director of the Princess Royal University Hospital in Bromley since November 2016. He joined King's from NHS England, where he was director of commissioning operations for south London.
Matthew, who will assume the role in October said: "I feel truly honoured to be joining the Oxleas team. I’ve worked with a number of colleagues from across the trust over the years and I have a huge amount of respect for the work they do. I’m looking forward to the future tremendously and all that we’ll achieve together."

Matthew succeeds Ben Travis, who took up the role of Chief Executive at Lewisham and Greenwich Trust in April 2018.

Having previously held senior positions with the MS Society, the Care Quality Commission and as a journalist, Matthew brings significant experience from both the public and private sectors.

Andy Trotter, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust Chair, said: "I’m really pleased to welcome Matthew to Oxleas. His combination of experience and leadership ability will be a huge asset and enable Oxleas to continue to flourish. His commitment to excellent patient care stands out and, with his experience, Matthew will also be able develop our strong local partnerships further."
