A football team for individuals who use various Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust services, Oxleas Athletic will see players wear CACT kit and play their homes games at Sparrows Lane Training Ground in New Eltham.

The launch took place on Thursday 14 November 2019, where Oxleas Athletic recorded a 6-4 win in their first ever game against Millwall Lions.

Speaking about the new team, CACT’s Head of Early Help & Prevention, Carl Krauhaus, said:

"Our partnership with Oxleas has always been hugely successful, which has been evidenced this year with our Up & At ‘Em partnership project winning two national awards.

"We are pleased to be in a position to support the new Oxleas Athletic football team with pitch use and a playing kit. I was present to see the team beat Millwall Lions and I think this team will have some great experience over the coming years."

CACT’s Chief Executive Jason Morgan attended the event alongside staff and representatives from Oxleas.

Speaking at the event, Keith Soper, Director of Forensic and Prison Services at Oxleas NHS said: “We’re really proud of the links we have with CACT’s scheme, which does fantastic work with local communities in a number of different areas.

"We were delighted to receive the donation of a football kit for our team of service users, as well as enjoying access to their first-rate facilities which we are pleased to be using as our home ground."

CACT’s Up & At ‘Em programme for over 65s with a mental health diagnosis, run in partnership with Oxleas, won two national awards this year.

CACT also runs the Early Intervention in Psychosis programme in conjunction with Oxleas.
