New prison healthcare contract secured for HMP Wandsworth

News: HMP Wandsworth

We’re delighted to announce that we have secured a £12.3m contract to deliver healthcare services at HMP Wandsworth from 1 October 2019.

Oxleas NHS will be the prime contractor and directly provide physical healthcare and pharmacy services, working together with South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM), Change, Grow, Live (CGL) and Nacro, who will provide mental health, substance misuse and resettlement services.

HMP Wandsworth is one of the biggest prisons in the country, serving around 1,600 inmates and as part of the contract, we will welcome more than 100 new colleagues to Oxleas.

Keith Soper, Director of Forensic and Prison Services, said: "This is fantastic news and I am looking forward to welcoming our new colleagues to Oxleas later this year.

"The team in the directorate worked really hard with partners to develop the bid and this award is a significant addition to our prison services. These are exciting times for healthcare services at HMP Wandsworth, which will include the opening of a brand new, purpose built healthcare centre in 2021."
