Swallowing Awareness Day – get involved!

News: Swallowing Awareness Day

The Oxleas Speech and Language Therapy Service will be at Queen Mary’s Hospital today (13 March) to raise awareness of swallowing difficulties, also known as Dysphagia.

They are inviting people to join them for a chat and a piece of cake on Swallowing Awareness Day to highlight how the condition affects people’s lives and how our therapists can support and help those affected.

Dysphagia describes eating, drinking and swallowing difficulties in infants, children and adults. Such difficulties have potentially life-threatening consequences which can result in choking, pneumonia, chest infections, dehydration, malnutrition and weight loss.

Pop along and see our team in the main reception between 10.30am and 1pm and get involved with the campaign #swallowaware2019.
