Board Executive team Appointments

Dr Ify Okocha & Michael Witney

We are pleased to announce two new appointments to the Board Executive team.

In addition to his role as Medical Director, Dr Ify Okocha has been appointed Deputy Chief Executive of Oxleas.

Ify said: "I'm really looking forward to taking on this role and hope I can continue to contribute to high quality care in the trust. It is an exciting time for Oxleas, we have much to be proud of and great strengths to build on. This is such a great organisation, full of supportive colleagues and teams with a passion for the care we give, I know we'll go from strength to strength."

The role of Director of Therapies, which is held by Michael Witney, has been made a board level Executive Director role in recognition of the significant contribution that therapists make to the organisation and of the work Michael has done in leading the range of professions. Michael welcomed this development and said: "In Oxleas, therapists make up a large and diverse clinical workforce, delivering a very sizeable amount of care to our patients.  I am really delighted that the huge, valued contribution made by therapists in Oxleas is being recognised in this way." Michael will take up this new position from September 2019.

Matthew Trainer, Chief Executive said: "This is the perfect time for Ify and Michael to take up these roles in Oxleas and the whole trust will benefit from their leadership, insight and dedication to high quality care. We're starting a number of engagement projects that will transform the way we plan for the future - by making sure all staff, at all levels across the entire trust have the opportunity to share their views and influence the direction we take.

"On a personal level I couldn't ask for a better deputy CEO than Ify and I am delighted that we can recognise the contribution our therapists make to Oxleas under Michael's outstanding leadership. There is so much we can achieve together as a team."

The appointments were confirmed at the July Board meeting following a Nominations Committee meeting in June.

Andy Trotter, Chair of Oxleas, said: "Ify and Michael are great assets to Oxleas and the Board was unanimous in supporting their appointments. With Jane Wells as executive director of nursing we now have three superb clinicians in leading roles on Oxleas' Board. Their focus on good quality care and on supporting our clinical workforce is hugely valued."
