New Non-Executive Director appointment at Oxleas

News: Suzanne Shale

We are pleased to announce that Suzanne Shale has joined Oxleas as a non-executive director. Suzanne is an expert in medical and policing ethics, safety culture in healthcare and safety investigations. She is a visiting professor at the Institute of Global Policing, University College London, on the advisory panel of the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch and part of the Department of Health's Independent Reconfiguration Panel.

On joining Oxleas, Suzanne said: "I feel very privileged to be invited to serve Oxleas as a non-executive director. As well as continuing to meet the health needs of its communities in familiar ways, the trust will also need to develop creative new approaches to fulfil the aims of the NHS Long Term Plan. Oxleas has an able and ambitious executive team, engaged and active governors, and committed and talented staff. I am delighted to have been offered the opportunity to support them as they seek to ensure people receive the best possible care in the here and now, while also grappling with the challenges and possibilities of the future."

Suzanne was selected following a rigorous selection process involving members of staff and governors. Her appointment was approved by our Council of Governors in June 2019 and her role started on 1 July running for an initial period of three years.

Oxleas Chair Andrew Trotter said: "We are delighted that Suzanne has joined us. Her breadth of experience, her analytical skills and her strong ethical stance will benefit both Oxleas' patients and staff."
