World Patient Safety Day 2019

News: World Patient Safety Day 2019

The World Health Organisation has this year launched World Patient Safety Day which will take place, for the first time, on 17 September 2019.

At Oxleas NHS, we’ve signed up to be a part of this global campaign and our patient safety team will be visiting inpatient wards across our services on the day to create awareness of the importance of patient safety and to urge colleagues to show their commitment to making healthcare safer.

The team will also be promoting the national ‘My Eating and Drinking Matters’ campaign, our new Dysphagia Policy and national IDDSI guidelines.

The campaign aims to mobilise patients, health workers, policy makers, academics, researchers, professional networks and the healthcare industry to speak up for patient safety.

Lynda Longhurst, head of Patient Experience and Safety, said: "We are delighted to take part in the first ever World Patient Safety Day to encourage colleagues to speak up for patient safety and show their commitment to making healthcare safer."
