Annual members’ meeting and exhibition a success

News: AMM 2019

Colleagues, members and service users flocked to be a part of our annual members’ meeting (AMM) and exhibition showcase in Charlton.

The event, which took place at Charlton Athletic Football Club’s Millennium Suite on 25 September, started with an exhibition and refreshments. Visitors were able to learn how they help to shape our services in our exhibition, which showcased a range of service user involvement projects.

Colleagues were on hand to talk through developments and our plans going forward to ensure we continue to deliver excellent care where and when it is most needed. We also celebrated 10 years of three of our service user projects – our Can You Understand It? Team (CYUI), ResearchNet and Volunteer to Work (V2W) scheme.

Neil Springham, our ResearchNet lead and exhibitor, talked through the importance of ResearchNet and its work with visitors. He said: "It is a surprise to me that we are 10 years old as what we do still feels fresh and exciting. There is a whole world to discover about how patient views can change services."

Denise Webb, from Queen Mary’s Hospital, said: "Queen Mary’s is a beacon for how service users have shaped the services that they want and need in their community."

Matthew Trainer, Chief Executive, said: "We want to increase the ways in which we can involve our service users in shaping how we work to improve the care we offer. One way in which we are doing this is through our Lived Experience Practitioners (LXPs). It can be very powerful for patients on a mental health ward to talk to members of staff who have had similar experiences and come out the other side."

Steve Dilworth, Vice Chair, said: "It has been wonderful to see so much interest from those who came long today in how our service users help to shape services and in how the trust will move forward in the coming months and years."

Share ideas to help shape our future

Our Annual Members’ Meeting followed the exhibition and we unveiled our plans for an exciting programme of events to develop the trust’s strategy.

We’re looking for people who use our services to be a part of the strategy, by contributing their ideas to help us plan for the future. You can do this via The Ox, our intranet, if you are a member of staff or via the membership team email:
