Inclusive communication for all: New Communication Access Symbol launched today

News: Communication Access Symbol

A new disability symbol is being launched today to make life easier and more equitable for those living with a communication difficulty across the UK.

Communication Access UK from the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) has been developed in partnership with speech and language experts from a number of NHS trusts and 7 partner organisations. Oxleas is working in partnership with the RCSLT and will be rolling out training on the use of the new symbol across the trust.

Sarah Hayward, who works as part of our Bexley Children’s SLT team, has been working on this project for Oxleas. She said: "I am very excited about the launch today and look forward to working with colleagues across our services to roll out the use of this new disability symbol."

You can show your support for the launch day by following the national campaign on Twitter using the hashtag #CommunicationAccess.
