Join us in celebration of our nurses

News: International Nurses Day 2020

Today (12 May 2020) is International Nurses Day and at Oxleas, we will be joining the rest of the world to celebrate the contribution that our nurses make to lives every day.

The 12 May has a very strong significance as it was the birthday of Florence Nightingale – the world’s most famous nurse.

This year’s theme is ‘nursing the world to health’ with a focus on the true value of nurses to the people of the world. It is extra special this year as 2020 has also been designated as Year of the Nurse and Midwife, to coincide with the 200th anniversary of Florence Nightingale’s birth.

Nurses, their clinical colleagues and health care workers in all roles, have also truly demonstrated their value as we deal with the Covid-19 pandemic.

Jane Wells, Director of Nursing at Oxleas, said: "I would love to see our nurses and wider Oxleas colleagues celebrate the day and recognise the special contribution that nurses make throughout peoples’ lives.

"Normally, we would mark the day with our annual Nursing Conference – but this year, we have had to defer this until 11 December. Until then, we have put together this thank-you video especially for all our nurses, nursing associates, support workers and health visitors."

Please take the time to enjoy it and join in with messages of support on the day on Twitter using #OxNurses.
