Oxleas is committed to being a great place to work, whilst delivering excellent care and improving lives. 

Part of this commitment is ensuring we are inclusive - so that everyone regardless of their age, disability, ethnicity, gender identity or sexual orientation - feels valued and included. To help us do this we launched an ambitious programme of work called Building A Fairer Oxleas.

This work is shaped by our staff, in particular black, Asian and minority ethnic staff, but also disabled and LGBT+ staff and staff of all ages. We are initially focussing on fairer recruitment and career progression and improving cultural competency.

Over the next year or so we aim to not only improve things for our staff but also our patients and service users and their families. We are committed to making sure that the health inequalities highlighted by COVID-19 and the discrimination highlighted by Black Lives Matter are addressed.

There are no quick fixes, but we will continue to listen to our staff, our services users and their families and our local communities.
