Giant jab clinics at sports clubs and festivals launched to help get London vaccinated

News: Covid19 pop up vaccination clinics

The capital is set to see super-sized Covid-19 vaccination events happening this weekend as part of a drive to protect Londoners.

The Olympic Stadium, Tottenham Hotspur FC, Chelsea FC and Charlton Athletic FC are among those that will host large scale pop-up clinics for residents, with smaller events taking place in local community venues so that as many people as possible get convenient access to life-saving covid jabs.

People aged 40 and over in South East London will also be able to get their first or second dose at the Radiate festival, celebrating Windrush history, which starts on Saturday.

Get your vaccine

The NHS and its partners in London are making it as easy as possible for Londoners to get their vaccine.

Doctors, nurses and community workers will be on hand at all the events to answer Londoner’s questions about the vaccine.

New pop up clinics are in addition to hundreds of vaccination sites already operating across the capital as part of the biggest vaccination programme in NHS history, including pharmacies, theatres and places of worship.

NHS London’s Medical Director, Dr Vin Diwakar, said: "Millions of young Londoners have waited patiently for a Covid-19 vaccine, but now it’s their turn to get a safe, effective jab to help keep them and their loved ones safe and get the capital back to normal. Almost eight million doses have now been given in London, and this bumper weekend for vaccination will ensure that thousands more people receive their life-saving vaccine."

The NHS urges everyone to get both doses of Covid-19 vaccine, with growing evidence showing that two doses provides a high level of protection against hospitalisation with the Delta variant.
