Let’s get arty for Learning Disability Week

News: Mencap LDW 2021

This week is Learning Disability Week and the theme for this year is art and creativity.

For many people with a learning disability and their families, getting creative has been a way to stay connected and positive through the challenges of the last year.

Learning Disability Week is this year asking people to join in and celebrate that art and creativity and we will be supporting our learning disability community at Oxleas to get them involved.

Bromley ResearchNet group have developed a piece of art relating to staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will be displayed at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup, Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich and at the Glades Shopping Centre in Bromley during this week, when staff and ResearchNet members will be available to talk to people about LD week.

Our wonderful Oxleas LD liaison nurse, Jennifer Sentongo, will also be near the staff canteen at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday from 10am to 2pm to talk about the work we do with our learning disability community. Why not pop along for a conversation?

Get involved and highlight all the fantastic art and creativity that goes on by showcasing it on social media using the hashtag #LDArtWeek.
