Farewell to Oxleas Chief Executive Matthew Trainer

News: Matthew Trainer 2021

We are sorry to announce that Matthew Trainer will be leaving Oxleas to take up a new role as Chief Executive for Queen’s and King George Hospitals at Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust. Matthew will be taking on the new position in August when our Deputy Chief Executive, Dr Ify Okocha, will become our interim Chief Executive.

Matthew, who will be leaving Oxleas after three years in the role, said: "Oxleas’ values are that we’re kind, we’re fair, we listen and we care. They are brought to life by the people that work here and it has been a privilege to be part of this team. I am sad to say goodbye to many wonderful colleagues, but I am looking forward to a new challenge and will never forget what I’ve learned during my time here."

Andy Trotter, Chair of Oxleas, thanked Matthew for his leadership at Oxleas. "Matthew has been an outstanding Chief Executive and we wish him well in his new role. His passionate commitment to patient care and the wellbeing of staff has been a vital part of the way this organisation has risen to the challenges created by Covid. I am confident that Ify and our strong Executive Team will continue to build on this."

Dr Ify Okocha has worked with Oxleas for 25 years having been Medical Director for the past 12 years. "I am delighted to be taking on this role and am looking forward to working with colleagues across Oxleas and south east London. We have an exciting new strategy for Oxleas which we are all looking forward to putting into action."
