New prison healthcare colleagues welcomed

NEWS: SW prisons visit Bristol

We were delighted to welcome new faces to the Oxleas family during a visit to prisons in the South West, where we are now providing offender healthcare

In August, we were awarded the south west prison healthcare contracts for 10 prisons in Devon, Dorset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Wiltshire. And Chief Executive, Ify Okocha, and Chief Operating Officer, Iain Dimond, have already been to meet some of our new colleagues face to face at the Bristol cluster.

Around 140 staff were welcomed to Oxleas on 1 October at HMPs Bristol, Elestoke, Ashfield and Leyhill, where we are now providing primary and mental health care, substance misuse and pharmacy services alongside partners.

We are also looking forward to welcoming new staff from another six prisons in Devon and Dorset on 1 December.

In addition to these prisons, we also provide integrated healthcare services within six prisons in Kent and at HMPs Belmarsh, Thameside and YOI Isis in Woolwich and at HMP Wandsworth. This latest contract means we are now the leading provider of NHS healthcare within secure environments in the country.

Chief Executive, Ify Okocha, said: “It was fantastic to meet colleagues face-to-face in the South West and we are thrilled to bring the new prisons and staff onboard. We’re very much looking forward to meeting more of our new colleagues over the coming months and making them feel very welcome and part of the Oxleas family.”
