It also provides advice, consultation and support to the other individuals and agencies involved in children's care. The service is available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm and with some additional early morning and evening clinics.

Oxleas Patient Experience survey

The Oxleas Patient Experience survey gives you the opportunity to feedback on the care and treatment you have received. We also encourage your friends, family and carers to also provide feedback. Hearing your views gives us a better understanding of the needs of our patients, families and carers which helps us to make sure that we are providing a good standard of care.

The short survey only takes a few minutes to complete and you can provide a written comment explaining what you think is working well and what is not. The Patient Experience team will collect the results of the surveys and these are shared with the relevant departments and management teams. This helps us to shape our services to continually improve the quality of the care and treatment we provide.

Referrals can be made by any professional working with the child/young person. Routine and urgent referrals should be made in writing by fax or post using the referral form. Emergency referrals should be made by telephone and confirmed in writing by fax.

Referrals are checked on a daily basis and action is taken as required. If we are the most appropriate service to meet the child's needs we will confirm this in writing within 10 working days.

Consent to referral
Consent should be obtained from either someone with Parental Responsibility (the child’s birth/adoptive parents, the local authority - where there is a Care or Emergency Protection Order) or the young person (where they are deemed competent to give consent).

Eligibility criteria
Children and young people can be referred to the specialist CAMHS service when their difficulties:

  • They have received intervention(s) from Tier 1/2 services which have failed to alleviate the problems
  • Are of a significant degree, such that they require treatment from mental health trained professionals eg psychologists, psychiatrists, (rather than interventions provided at Tiers 1/2 such as parent training or school counselling)
