Children's Occupational Therapy Service Greenwich

Coronavirus

We are having to alter some of our services in response to the demands that Coronavirus is creating. This means that we may have less staff and will be unable to continue to provide services in the way we usually do. Therefore, we may need to do the following:

  • We may carry out consultations via phone or video call
  • The frequency of our visits for your care might be reduced
  • If the care you receive is not essential, it might be stopped for the time being.

We will speak with you about any new arrangements we need to put in place. We will inform any other people involved in your care of any changes made.

If you need to contact us, please call 0208 836 8621.

We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation at this time.

The Children’s Occupational Therapy Team provides specialist care and support for children aged 0-19 years who experience difficulties carrying out everyday tasks, gain maximum independence in their daily play, leisure and school activities.

The service offers individual assessment, promotes social inclusion and maximises the child’s ability to reach their full potential in all areas of their daily activities.

Occupational Therapy enables children and young people to participate as fully as possible in activities as part of their daily lives. OTs work with children and young people who have difficulties or a disability which impacts upon their daily participation in activities. Occupational Therapists (OT's) help children and young people to carry out activities they need or want to do in areas of self-care, school work and play. If a child or young person has learning, sensory or physical difficulties, their ability to grow, learn, socialise and play can be compromised.

The service supports young adults up to 25 years when they have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place.

How to access this service

Greenwich Children's Occupational Therapy Service has an open access policy for children  which includes self referral. You can access our referral form hereTo be eligible you will need to have a Greenwich GP.

If your GP or other health professional feels that your child needs a referral into the Occupational Therapy Service, they will make a referral on your behalf.

Oxleas Patient Experience survey

The Oxleas Patient Experience survey gives you the opportunity to feedback on the care and treatment you have received. We also encourage your friends, family and carers to also provide feedback. Hearing your views gives us a better understanding of the needs of our patients, families and carers which helps us to make sure that we are providing a good standard of care.

The short survey only takes a few minutes to complete and you can provide a written comment explaining what you think is working well and what is not. The Patient Experience team will collect the results of the surveys and these are shared with the relevant departments and management teams. This helps us to shape our services to continually improve the quality of the care and treatment we provide.
