Children's Physiotherapy Team Greenwich

We are having to alter some of our services in response to the demands that Coronavirus is creating. This means that we may have less staff and will be unable to continue to provide services in the way we usually do. Therefore, we may need to do the following:

  • We may carry out consultations via phone or video call
  • The frequency of our visits for your care might be reduced
  • If the care you receive is not essential, it might be stopped for the time being.

We will speak with you about any new arrangements we need to put in place. We will inform any other people involved in your care of any changes made.

If you need to contact us, please call 0208 836 8621.

We would like to thank you for your understanding and cooperation at this time.

The Children’s Physiotherapy Team provides specialist care and support for children aged 0-19 years who have a condition that affects their movement, posture or physical skills development.

The service provides:

  • specialist advice on equipment and activities that can help the child
  • activity programmes for the child and their carer(s) to follow
  • blocks of intervention to achieve goals which are jointly set with the child and their family.

The service supports young adults up to 25 years when they have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place.

How to access this service

Greenwich Children’s Physiotherapy Service has an open access policy for children which includes self referral. You can access our referral form here. To be eligible you will need to have a Greenwich GP.

If your GP or other health professional feels that your child needs a referral into the Physiotherapy Service, they will make a referral on your behalf.

Oxleas Patient Experience survey

The Oxleas Patient Experience survey gives you the opportunity to feedback on the care and treatment you have received. We also encourage your friends, family and carers to also provide feedback. Hearing your views gives us a better understanding of the needs of our patients, families and carers which helps us to make sure that we are providing a good standard of care.

The short survey only takes a few minutes to complete and you can provide a written comment explaining what you think is working well and what is not. The Patient Experience team will collect the results of the surveys and these are shared with the relevant departments and management teams. This helps us to shape our services to continually improve the quality of the care and treatment we provide.

My soon is 3 years old and has spastic hemiplegia.
He was reffered to be seen by a therapist few months ago but now we would like to arrange another visit as the last visit was first we have been done on 21.02.2017.
Could you help me with that please?
Many thanks Theodor!

Dear Theodor

Following the joint Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy clinic appointment on the 21.2.17, it was agreed your son did not require further Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy input at that time.

If you now have new concerns and would like another review with the Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist can you please contact the central admin team on 020 8836 8621 and they will be able to advise you how to arrange this review.

Kind regards

Hello, I've just found out about your service. My daughter is nearly 3.5 years old and has knock knees. The gap between her feet is quite big when standing and she can join her feet only with bending one knee forward. I would be very happy if you could offer us a proper assessment. Thank you very much.

Dear Paulina,

Many thanks for contacting us.

We would be pleased to assess your daughter in our gait clinic. At this appointment, your daughter will be seen by both a physiotherapist and a podiatrist who will provide a full assessment of her needs.

We will be in touch with you with the appointment details, and anticipate your daughter will be seen within the next 3 weeks.

We look forward to seeing you soon.
