Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service Greenwich

The Children’s Speech and Language Therapy Team provides specialist care and support for children aged 0-19 years with communication and/or eating and drinking difficulties.

Services are organised to provide support to children and their families in the most appropriate setting including homes, schools, nurseries, children centres and clinic environments.

The service supports young adults up to 25 years when they have an Education, Health and Care Plan in place.

How to access this service

Greenwich Children's Speech and Language Therapy Service has an open access policy for children under 5 which includes self referral via our drop in assessment and clinic sessions. Download the timetable to find out the location, dates and times of these clinics. To be eligible you will need to have a Greenwich GP.

Please be aware, that because the drop in sessions offer a screening/assessment, there is a limited number of children a therapist can see (6 in any one clinic session). If the slots are full, the team will advise you on alternative sessions.

Please note that due to Children's Centre Closures, there will not be a drop in session on the following dates:
Thursday 21 and 28 December 2017 - Eglinton.

For older children (5 and over), children's needs will be managed via their school or nursery.

If your GP or other health professional feels that your child needs a referral into the Speech and Language Therapy Service, they will either make a referral on your behalf, or notify you of the drop in assessment and advice sessions.

Very helpful leaflets, handy for tips to give to parents and for signposting. Not sure if it's our printer but when you print the leaflets double sided, one side prints upside down (i.e. cannot be folded leaflet style)

Dear AS

I am pleased you found the leaflets helpful. Try printing double sided with the instruction "flip on short edge" - this should mean the leaflet prints the right way up. I have tried this today and it works. If you would like me to send you a printed leaflet please let me know.

What age group does the service provide assistance upto, will i need to look into provate therapy for a 17 year old?

Dear Melek

Thank you for your query, a Speech and Language Therapist has telephoned you to talk through our service, I hope this has provided clarity.

Please see the local offer http://familiesinformation.royalgreenwich.gov.uk/kb5/greenwich/fsd/localoffer.page for other supports within Greenwich.

Please do also speak to the inclusion manager at the college, to discuss what reasonable adjustments can be made to support access to the curriculum/course.

Kind regards
