Young Greenwich Greenwich

Young Greenwich nurses work in youth hubs and support schools across the borough to provide advice and information on a number of topics, including:

  • general health issues
  • feeling sad or anxious
  • relationships
  • diet and exercise
  • weight issues
  • bullying
  • growing up
  • sexual health issues
  • smoking cessation.

The school nursing team are a mix of School Screeners, Health Advisors, Community Staff Nurses, Specialist Community Public Health Nurses and administrators.

The nurses are based within hubs and aligned to schools in Greenwich and support families with children and young people aged 5-19 years with their health and wellbeing, including physical, mental and sexual health.

Secondary schools have a named Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) that offers a regular, confidential service for young people. Primary schools have access to the hub nursing team.

Our nurses and health advisors are experienced, approachable, know the schools and area well, and support everyone in strict confidence with regard to safeguarding at all times.

We now work with Young Greenwich who offer a range of school and community-based services to support the health and wellbeing of children and families across Greenwich. Young Greenwich can also be accessed at www.young-greenwich.org.uk, where registering for an account can give you access to a variety of great activities and referral to health and wellbeing services in the local area.

The team is on hand every weekday (except bank holidays) from 9am to 5pm to give confidential information, advice, and support on a wide range of health and wellbeing issues including sexual, emotional, and physical health.

If you need to contact us, please call 0208 836 8621. There is a Duty School Nurse every working day to respond to your enquiry.

Lisa Thompson
Director of Children & Young People's Services

Hello, sorry to bother you. My son attends Harris Academy Greenwich and was due his covid vaccine last week as he's 15. I waited for confirmation from NHS but the only message I received is for him to go to St Thomas's Hospital. Do you know if you are going back to his school to do maybe a catch up vaccine programme and whether his name could be added please?
He has had all the other vaccines offered at school so I cannot see what happened this time?

Kind regards
Denise (mum)
