Election to the Council of Governors

Our governor elections are a great opportunity for members to put themselves forward to stand as a governor to represent the members in their constituency.

When elections open, all members in the vacant constituency are notified with information advising how to put themselves forward as a governor if they wish to do so. Information is also available on this page.

Our 37 governors come from all walks of life. Their common ground is an interest in Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust, the wide range of services we provide and our values.

Why not join our Council of Governors by standing as a governor in our next election?

Governors hold the trust’s non-executive directors to account and represent the interests of our members and the public.

The minimum commitment is attending Council of Governors’ meetings four times a year but there’s lots more to see and do if you have the time to spare.

Please view our interactive Governors' Election Pack, which contains information and guidance to help you decide whether to stand as a governor.

Our Governors

Governors, with the support of our members, help make sure that our work is in keeping with our values.

They are the link between service users, carers, staff, the general public and our Board of Directors.

Our Governors are elected to the Council of Governors from all walks of life and serve a three year term within one of our constituencies – as public governors, service user/carer governors, staff governors or appointed governors. Governors can service up to a maximum of three terms (nine years in total)

We have 37 Governors on our Council of Governors.
