At Oxleas, 28 colleagues are currently on apprenticeships and many more have already completed theirs – like Teressa Riley (pictured above right), who completed her nursing apprenticeship in January 2024 and now works with our Oval District Nursing Team as a Band 5 Registered Nurse.
Teressa has been on quite a journey with us. She has completed her Nursing Associate (NA) apprenticeship training with Oxleas and then, after being in a Band 4 NA post for one year, she applied for the top-up from NA to Registered Nurse (Adult) that was completed last year.
Her story was featured in national newspaper, The Guardian, to highlight National Apprenticeship Week and showcase how the University of Greenwich is leading the way in helping people learn and earn.

Lisa Newsum, Nurse Education Lead, said:
“It has been a pleasure to support Teressa on her journey. Alongside her peers she has demonstrated a true passion for learning and an unwavering commitment to Oxleas, embracing the nursing pathway through the apprenticeship route.
“She is a shining example and we are incredibly proud of her accomplishments and look forward to seeing her grow a successful career in nursing.”
