In recognition of National Children’s Nurse Day (30 June), we’re excited to announce the adoption of two of our nurses as Roald Dahl Nurse specialists.

Carolyn George-Davies and Mary Ojile were recently adopted as official Roald Dahl Sickle Cell Nurse Specialists to provide specialist support for children with sickle cell disease.

This new role has been created by Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, working in partnership with Oxleas.

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity exists to provide specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children. There are currently over 250 Roald Dahl nurses caring for over 50,000 seriously ill children across the UK.

Leaders in their field, Roald Dahl Nurses transform the lives of seriously ill children and their families. They bridge the gap between hospital and home, cut through medical jargon and coordinate care among multiple specialists.

Louise Axford, Matron for Bexley and Greenwich Community Children’s Nursing Services, said:

This is an exciting opportunity for our staff to enhance the quality of care for the children we care for. We’re all really looking forward to this partnership.
