Modern slavery and human trafficking

Modern slavery and human trafficking can affect people in any setting, including healthcare. NHS England has published a national statement setting out how the NHS is working to prevent exploitation across its services, workforce and supply chains.

The statement highlights that the NHS has an important role in:

  • Identifying and supporting people who may be victims
  • Making sure staff are recruited safely and fairly
  • Ensuring goods and services are sourced responsibly

We're committed to reducing risks and protecting vulnerable people.
