Colleagues come together to drive positive change

Colleagues who attended the NHSE Deliberative Event in Sept 2025

Our Oxleas colleagues proudly took part in NHS England’s first regional deliberative event in London, focused on shaping the NHS 10-Year Plan and the Professional Strategy for Nursing and Midwifery through to 2040.

The event brought together nurses, nursing associates, midwives, and students from across the capital to collaboratively explore how the future of healthcare in England can be shaped. It was a unique opportunity to engage directly with Karen Bonner, London Regional Chief Nurse, and Acosia Nyanin, Deputy Chief Nursing Officer for NHS England, to delve into the Chief Nursing Officer’s long-term vision for the professions.

Key themes included:

  • Supporting career progression and development
  • Shifting care into community settings
  • Prioritising prevention and health promotion
  • Addressing global health challenges
  • Research and innovation

Oxleas representatives contributed valuable local insights, reflecting on how national priorities can be translated into meaningful, trust-level action. The event also provided a platform to ensure our voice is part of shaping a more sustainable, preventative, and effective NHS.

Sharleen Nkwo, Deputy Clinical Nurse Educator (NET), said:

It was a powerful reminder of the collective commitment across London to improving healthcare outcomes and supporting our workforce for the future.

Attendees returned feeling inspired and empowered, ready to bring these important conversations back to their teams and continue driving positive change across the trust.
