As part of this, we’re excited to share details of a digital therapeutic offer being used by our CAMHS services which is already proving to be a success.
Lumi Nova: Tales of Courage is a therapeutic, immersive, app-based mobile game that delivers Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and psychoeducation to children aged seven to 12, enabling them to self-manage worries and build resilience.
Supported by the Health Innovation Network (HIN) for South London, we’ve recently been exploring how to further embed this app into our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) in Bexley and Greenwich, clearly identifying where in our clinical pathway we can best utilise this digital therapy offer for children receiving mental health support in school settings.
Lumi Nova (developed by BfB labs) is one of four guided self-help digital CBT technologies recommended in Early Value Assessment by NICE as an initial treatment option for children and young people (aged 5 to 18) with mild to moderate symptoms of anxiety or low mood, while evidence is being generated.
Lauren Cane, Associate Director of CAMHS, said:
“We are thrilled to be seeing an increase in the use of Lumi Nova across our services as an evidence based digital alternative.
“Our aim going forward is to launch a broader digital offer in CAMHS and the HIN’s report will enable us to develop the right resources to support staff to do this.
“Lumi Nova is a great tool to have access to and we look forward to mobilising digital therapy options for more children and young people in the future.”
