 Help in a crisis

Lights, camera, action! Award winners revealed at staff celebration

Peoples Choice Award winner HMP Leyhill Healthcare Team

Our Recognition Awards 2024 was an afternoon to remember – a time to celebrate and recognise outstanding achievement from the past year.

We rolled out the red carpet for our film premiere-styled showcase in Cineworld at the O2 in Greenwich on Monday 2 December, hosted by Chief Executive Officer, Ify Okocha, Chief Medical Officer, Abi Fadipe and Chair, Andrew George.

With the cinema screen as a backdrop, fantastic applause greeted all our winners and highly commended teams and individuals as they collected their certificates, badges and prizes.

We received hundreds of nominations from across our services and directorates and the judges had a tough job on their hands to choose our winners. Once again, our People’s Choice Award, voted for by our members from the shortlist, was hugely popular with more than 14,000 votes cast overall. Congratulations to our winners, HMP Leyhill Healthcare Team (pictured), who travelled all the way from the South West, to receive their second award of the day.

Other winners included Jo Stickland, who was named Volunteer of the Year for her sterling efforts changing linen and making beds for more than 20 years at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Sidcup.

Congratulations also to Christopher Parker, who was chosen by our governors as winner of the Governors’ Award for being a kind and caring CAMHS practitioner who always puts his patients first.

Ify said:

“Today is all about celebration – celebration of our staff and of the fantastic work you all do for our patients and their families. We have a lot to celebrate and this hasn’t been achieved without a lot of hard work and commitment. I’m so proud of all you do, every day, to improve lives and provide outstanding healthcare to those who need us most.”

The event was streamed live and you can watch a recording of the ceremony below and also at: https://vimeo.com/oxleasnhs/oxleas-awards-2024
