New Chief Estates Officer welcomed at Oxleas

Chief Estates Officer Oxleas NHS FT 2025

We’re delighted to welcome Steve Wedgwood as our new Chief Estates Officer, taking the reins from Rachel Evans, who is retiring after more than 38 years with Oxleas.

Steve, who is already in post, comes to us from Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust where he spent 14 years as Deputy Director and then Director of Estates and Facilities.

As the Board and Executive Lead for Estates, Facilities, Capital and Sustainability across two hospital sites, Steve developed an award-winning team who won 20 national awards, mostly for sustainability and innovation.

During his NHS career, which spans more than 30 years, Steve has developed and led a wide range of non-clinical and clinical services holding senior leadership roles in health authorities, a primary care trust, mental health and community trust, two acute trusts and at a national level with the National Patient Safety Agency where he was also Director of Communications.

Steve has a Masters in Leadership and a Degree in Management, and is a keen advocate of staff at all levels being supported and encouraged to continuously learn and develop to reach their full potential.

Steve said:

I'm very happy and privileged to be joining such a great trust and being able to contribute towards Oxleas being a great place to work and one which provides excellent care for users of our services. I know I'm taking over the reins of a great team and I will be aiming to build on my predecessor’s legacy, bringing my own wide NHS experience and approach to continue and hopefully make us even better.

Rachel Evans said:

It’s been a privilege to work for Oxleas for so many years. I am immensely proud of the Estates and Facilities team and all the work they do day in, day out, often unseen and unrecognised. I wish them and Steve all the very best for the future.
