Greenwich Mental Health Hub is being developed in partnership between BLG Mind, Oxleas NHS and Bridge Support as part of a long-term NHS Plan to transform mental health services. The hub will make it easier than ever for local people to access support close to home so they can thrive in their lives and community.
The project is being funded by South East London Integrated Care Board (SELICB) and run by mental health professionals, peer support workers and other specialists who work together on the factors that can contribute to poor mental health such as housing, debt, unemployment and substance misuse.
The hub was officially opened by Deputy Mayor, Jib Ranabhat, during a visit to the new office space in Plumstead. Dr Ify Okocha, Chief Executive of Oxleas NHS, was also there for the opening ceremony, along with (pictured L-R), Ben Taylor, CEO of Bromley Lewisham and Greenwich Mind and Raymond Sheehy, Chief Executive of Bridge Support.
David was referred to the hub earlier this year. He said: “It was very different to any other service I’d had – the advice from my peer support worker was personalised and I knew he was genuinely listening to me and understood me.” With help, David has the confidence to recover by taking small, achievable steps, day by day.
Deputy Mayor Ranabhat added: “It’s so important that services like our new Greenwich Mental Health Hub are available and easily accessed by those in the community who need mental health support.”
