Open doors to your prison healthcare career

Carly Fudgell at a recruitment fair for South West offender healthcare staff

Are you or someone you know interested in a career in offender healthcare nursing?

Oxleas NHS is now the country’s leading NHS provider of healthcare in secure environments and we’re looking to recruit to our fantastic teams.

We’re going to be out an about at an array of careers fairs in the South West of England over the coming months – why not come and see us to talk about how rewarding a nursing career in offender healthcare can be?

The UK Careers Fair events will take place from 10am to 2pm on:

  • 24 August in Bristol
  • 25 August in Bath
  • 7 September in Plymouth
  • 28 September in Swindon
  • 12 October in Taunton
  • 18 October in Bristol
  • 25 October in Bournemouth
  • 26 October in Gloucester

We’ll be giving out information and goodie bags and will be talking to potential candidates about the opportunities and career development we can offer at Oxleas NHS.

We are proud to provide healthcare in secure environments across the South West of the country in Bristol, Wiltshire, South Gloucestershire, Devon and Dorset, in addition to Kent and London.

Dawn, an administrator with Oxleas NHS said: “Working as an administrator in a prison can be a rewarding, yet sometimes challenging career in an environment like no other. As healthcare, we have a duty of care to every patient and we strive to deliver safe and effective care to each individual. When I first applied for a role in a prison, I was very apprehensive as to how I would feel and looked at it as a bit of a gamble. What if I didn’t like it? What if I felt threatened? I have now been working here for 14 months and I have to say it was the best career decision I have made.”

Ellen, Clinical Lead with Oxleas NHS said: “Oxleas is a great place to develop your career. Working within a prison can seem scary at first but you'll have the support you need from your team to make a difference every day. I see the prison as an individual community where I work with a variety of people and provide urgent care, routine health screens like a GP practice and complex needs care to the patients. I have the unique opportunity to support someone throughout their time in prison and make a significant difference to their lives.”

Pop along and meet us – and let us help you with a career where you can make a difference every day.
