Oxleas NHS features in HSJ Awards shortlist

Visual for shortlisted trust of the year in HSJ 2023 Awards

Today, (14 August)  the HSJ has published its shortlist for this year’s HSJ Awards and we’re honoured to announce that we feature twice – in the Trust of the Year and Staff Wellbeing awards categories.

The prestigious awards recognise and celebrate healthcare service excellence in the UK, shining a light on outstanding efforts and achievements.

Our Trust of the Year submission focuses on how, as a trust, we are improving lives through great staff engagement and great partnership working. We agreed an ambitious strategy in 2021 to make Oxleas a great place to work and to receive care by living our values – we’re kind, we’re fair, we listen, we care - through our work every day. We also highlighted the work we are doing to reduce inequalities in services, embrace co-production with initiatives such as our Shadow Executive and our fantastic NHS Staff Survey results which show genuine staff engagement.

Our entry for the Staff Wellbeing Award category showcases how we support staff wellbeing through our staff assemblies, wellbeing champions, Schwartz Rounds, Building a Fairer Oxleas programme and successful staff networks.

Andy Trotter, Trust Chair, welcomed the news: "I am delighted to see the achievements at Oxleas being recognised in this way. Colleagues have had a strong focus on making Oxleas a great place to be cared for and to work and have been really innovative in their approach."

Our Chief Executive, Dr Ify Okocha said: "To make not one, but two shortlists in these prestigious national awards is really such amazing news. Our objectives for entering these awards were to give recognition to all the exceptionally hard-working colleagues, partners, patients, carers, volunteers, governors and members who have been working tirelessly in partnership to improve people’s lives.”

The winners will be announced at the HSJ Awards Ceremony in November.
