Today, The Sunday Times publishes their renowned Best Places to Work 2023 rankings and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust is honoured to feature as one of the best places to work in the Very Big Company category, as well as winner in the Best Places to Work for disabled people category.

The awards recognise and celebrate organisations with the highest employee engagement and wellbeing levels, which in turn help winners of the award attract, retain and recruit employees. 

The winners were selected from the results of an employee survey, with 26 questions on topics ranging from reward and recognition to empowerment and wellbeing.

"Equity for all our staff and service users is a firmly held belief and heartfelt priority amongst the Oxleas workforce. There is always more for us to do, but it really does mean a lot to achieve recognition along the way and know that we are on the right path." 

Andy Trotter, Chair of Oxleas, thanked colleagues for this achievement. “This is testament to the great staff at Oxleas. Making Oxleas a Great Place to Work is one of our strategic aims and being included in the Sunday Times list recognises the dedication to patient care and contribution of everyone working at the trust.”

The survey includes questions specially designed by employee experience experts across a range of engagement drivers which include: Empowerment, Reward and Recognition, Job Satisfaction, Information Sharing, Wellbeing and Instilling Pride. This survey showed that 81% of Oxleas employees are proud of the organisation and would recommend Oxleas as a place to work – this is 10% higher than the industry average.

These results were also reflected in the recent national NHS Staff Survey, undertaken annually by all trusts, which ranks Oxleas NHS as one of the Top 5 mental health, community and adult learning disability trusts in England to work, as well as No.1 across London. The trust also recently won two national awards from the Healthcare People Management Association, for leading in equality, diversity and inclusion and was a finalist in the national Engage Awards. Chief Executive, Dr Ify Okocha, was also ranked one of the top 50 chief executives in the country (2023) by the Health Service Journal .
