Oxleas reaches milestone with one Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) for every 20 nurses

Oxleas has achieved a significant milestone, becoming one of the first organisations in the country—and one of the first in London—to meet the NHS England’s target of one Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) for every 20 nurses.

With 79 PNAs/PAs and 1,523 nurses (as of September 2024), we’re meeting the standard for supporting the professional development and well-being of our nursing staff.

So far this year, we’ve seen remarkable results:

  • 962 individuals supported in 2025 (up to Aug 31)
  • 747 nurses received Restorative Clinical Supervision (RCS)
  • 215 career conversations held
  • 53 Quality Improvement projects supported

Chief Nurse Jane Wells said:

I’m incredibly proud of our PNAs and their dedication. Their compassion and commitment to supporting their colleagues make a real difference to both staff and patients, and I’m excited to see the continued positive impact they will have at Oxleas.

The PNA programme continues to grow and at the forefront of our workforce development and care excellence.
